Praveen and all,

K6 vs. P-II sales:

Don't kid yourselves about the sales of K6 vs. P-II basing on third-tier computer box-makers. For years, at the local swap-meets, n-th tier vendors have been selling a way higher proportion of non-Intel CPUs. And the volume is still infinitely lower than the first and second tier vendors. Even CompUSA here at metro Detroit area has P-II sales dwarfing K6 (CTX). Please stop living in a make-believe world. At least snap out of it after Christmas, OK?

John.

Praveen, re:<they are selling them [K6's] as fast as they receive them> This is confirmed as I shopped for a K6-166 or K6-200 last Saturday. Several retailers said they were sold out of all grades of the chip until Monday or Tuesday when they all get their next shipment. The ones who were sold out said they typically sell out by Friday. I was able to get a K6-166 for only $127. This week the price is higher and one dealer said the 166 was discontinued, although I think it was just an excuse.

Although all speeds to be equally hard to get, it does appear that AMD could be easily selling 50-100% more chips if they could produce that many.
