HI Kirk,

GM has built suburbans,HHR's and Cruzes in Mexico.

Not only is there labor cost but GM has a lot of parts manufacturing right on the international trade free zones along our borders.

To be able to sell vehicles into the Mexican market a high content of the vehicle must be made in Mexico (it used to be 80 %) not sure about now.

One of my old GMI room mates was the head of Mexican manufacturing - had a very great job with in GM.

So it lowers costs and also opens up a very good and growing market.

That's why you would see Mexican police cars being Chevies (Cobalts and cruzes).

Mexico has become one of the more successful emerging markets and are benefitting from capital inflows proven by the link you've referenced.

They also hedged their entire oil production for 2016 and have a 6 billion windfall from it.

If you note that the permian tight oil region is still where some fracking and drilling is continuing - there is an awfully large area of Mexico that is simply on the other side of the Rio Grande.

That should give them plenty of money with which to pay for Trumps wall eh? LOL

Bob

Kirk, Bill Clinton did not push NAFTA thru. It was fast tracked by papa Bush and signed before Bill took office. Clinton did add two provisions to protect the environment and one to protect American workers. As I recall he tried to do more but was limited to these two addendums. Hillary has flip flopped on NAFTA a couple of times. RDK
