richie, i wouldn't buy any monitor unless it was a cpq, sony, or NEC.
forget the other monitors.
those should have 3 yr.
wait 30 more days.
you might get a cpq p233 for $999 and it will be loaded.

OFF TOPIC--- Richie-- I bought a refurbished Sony 17se a couple of years ago. It came sealed in a GDM box. Don't know if GDM is Sony for sure, but it is a great monitor.

But if you want to spoil yourself-- Look at the Hitachi/RasterOps Mc7515. It's a 19" monitor. Better than sony, sharper (.22) brighter, big and fast. About a grand at discount stores. Worth it if you spend a lot of time in front of a computer.

Richie,
Have a new NEC 17 at work, and a compaq at home. Both have 2m vram. The compaq is definately better in my opinion. The NEC seems to bother my eyes for some reason. Although it might be the office lighting more then the monitor.

My daughter uses the compaq at home for graphics art with a scaner and Adobe Photoshop 4 along with other graphic art software for typesetting, ect that I don't open:>) She has commented that the monitor color and fine lines are much better then the ones at her commercial art school. They are NEC but I don't know anything about them so the comparison is not fair. I suspect they are older monitors. The school computers are older power MACs running the same software. The school is getting new computers this summer.
