A friend of mine tried to buy a DISH in Denver before Xmas and there were none to be found, this is really a bummer. I wonder if there were shortages of DISH systems countrywide or just local problems. Since DISH is hq'd in Denver I suppose it may be more popular here and therefore a shortage here may be more likely.

Cheers

John, I offer the following link to a product that may be the solution to the problem you mentioned in your post, about the requirement of a second dish, or a motorized one. Apparently this company already has one.

<<DISH must be at the limit of what it can provide from Echostar I and II, and Echostar III is in a different part of the sky (requiring a second dish, or motorized one as someone on this thread mentioned>>

Does anyone know anything about this scanner?
The ad says it can receive from up to 36 satellites.

Re: are Echo I & II running out of channels?

John, you mentioned DTV offering all the Encore channels while
DISH offers just one, and suggested that perhaps DISH is running
out of channels from Echostar I and II.

If this is true, then I'd be curious as to why DISH is offering
the 15 FOX Sports + regional stations at such low cost when it could
make more by just offering more premium channels. Also, the fact
that most pro sports games are blacked out on these channels doesn't
help the cause (this is happening mostly
because the pro leagues have signed exclusive viewing rights to
other DBS vendors, freezing out DISH).

Does anybody know for sure what is the channel capacity of
Echostar I and II? And if they're running out of channels,
does anybody know how they're going about allocating the remaining ones? (e.g. offering all these sports channels where many games
are blacked out seems counterproductive)

Right now (including FOX Sports package), I count 145 channels
on my DISH system. If recent DTV ads are to be believed, they have
175. Where are these extra 30 channels coming from?
