>Second, since many, if not most CD-R drives do not support packet writing, and for other reasons I have already outlined, I stand by my contention that they are not exactly like rewritable media.<

Allen, one surprise I got when I bought the CD-RW drive is that you have to format them and that takes over 90 minutes. This is one of the points where we kept getting GPFs during the format process which required us to start over again. Took the better part of a day to get the disk formated.

On a similar note regarding clicking on Zip disks. I've found that reformatting the disk gets rid of the clicking problem. This has happened to me on two out of about 100 disks that are used very heavily on a daily basis for more than a year.

Allen,

First, You did said that indirectly when you compare zip/Jaz to CDR/CDRW in www3.techstocks.com
>> most people see an advantage to the ease-of-use, speed and yes, reliability of Zip and Jaz. >>

Second you said use DOS copy command with CDRW is "Never" possible in www3.techstocks.com
>> You mean I can just use the DOS copy command? Wow! When did that happen? Oh, right, now I remember. Never. <<

And many popular CDR does support packet writing. CDD2000, CDD2600, Sony CDU-920/924/926/928, HP4020i/7110i, almost all Yamaha and Ricoh... But most new CDR don't support DAO for some reason but packet writing doesn't use DAO mode.

Why don't you simply admit that you didn't do your homework.
