Not to mention they have to many levels to Heaven...

but I don't see that happening while they keep their 'prophet'.

Many Lutherans don't regard Catholics as Christians because they pray to Mary.

I went back to that report re Christian states and found the inconspicuous asterisk.

*Christians include Mormons and Unitarians / Universalists who self-identify as Christians.

It's good form (aka PC) to recognize folks' membership in identity groups when they so self-identify even if that identity doesn't seem plausible. Works the same for Christians as for male and female or Republican and Democrat or ethnicity. It's disrespectful not to. Plus, at a group level, impossible to validate authenticity.

There are lots of Christian sects besides Mormons and Unitarians that orthodox Christians don't think are "real" Christians. Cultural Christians identify as Christian although they don't practice at all. This particular study counted actual people reported by congregations as being affiliated by membership or the like rather than random survey of individuals. I looked around and found other rankings of states that were a little bit different.

I have almost never in my life been around religious people. The default was secular. Different world here in the Bible Belt. But even with churches on every corner hereabouts, NC is under 50%. Surprised me, which is why I remembered it.
