Why don't opinion articles like that one actually put numbers behind all the handwaving? They could say countries X, Y, and Z have mean household incomes of $A, $B, and $C, and their single payer systems cost $J, $K, and $L per citizen, and then give a list of Doc and Nurse incomes, and the cost for a hospital stay per day, etc. Then people could make more intelligent sense out of what sort of system they think they might be willing to live with.

A really sensible opinion piece. The idea has been sold in a very counter-intuitive way leading people to think that you can just pull all this money out of the system and yet maintain the quality of care. What they don't get is that Medicare as it stands today cannot adequately pay for the services that rendered. Without private insurance and Medicare supplements, our health care system will collapse in a very short period of time. Does Sanders think about this, care about it, even know about it?
