I do miss my major software routinely coming on CD or DVD. Speaking of which, I recommend writing the install key on the back of installation discs when you have them. Belarc Advisor will also tell you the keys for software already installed.

Something else that can be done is to create a software directory and create individual folders for the different installs for your programs with the install key that goes with each. This is very useful to have and I use a flash/thumbdrive to put all my installation software on.

As for your Adobe software, have you talked with Adobe to see if you can transfer your current license to a new machine without the need for a subscription? On one occasion I moved a license for Acronis True Image from one computer to another, but I needed one of their support techs to do it.

For the Adobe stuff, I also have the full suite on DVDs, but I think the process
here is to properly uninstall the software from the old PC.

I think that triggers something at Adobe licensing whereby they know it's been uninstalled.

There may be other programs like that whereby you should properly uninstall it from the old PC before proceeding to the new PC.

In general I found that all the old keys worked fine on reinstallation under Windows 10.
