Hey Kirk.....time to quantify a few economic terms.

Tariffs are the province of the Federal l government and can be applied very selectively . The resulting charges go to the Federal Treasury,

Sales Taxes are the province of individual states and the monies collected go to the State Treasury for purposes designated by the State Legislators.

These two items are not identical. They have different objectives and consequences.

However in death....you can avoid both.

It is all very complex... and Trump looks even more foolish going after Harley for building hogs in Europe to sell in Europe to level the playing field with his new tariffs. What did he expect would happen?
My impression is that Pres. Trump expected that his fellow Americans would wait 15 seconds while he was working this out before leaping up to loudly and publicly slap him in the face and join the other side.

But, long run, sure.
