I'm happy with the numbers and the future is looking brighter everyday for Sun but tomorrow will set the tone on how the market feels. And here is more news for the future and how do you spell that CHA CHING Time Warner set-top box ahead of TCI news.com Time Warner Cable (TWX) and Comcast (CMCSA) are planning service in some areas that's based on the Scientific-Atlanta's (SFA) "Explorer 2000" digital set-top box. Foreshadowing set-top boxes of the future, the Explorer 2000 uses a low-cost MicroSparc processor from Sun and an operating system from PowerTV. --- Sun promises big things for Java, channelwww5.zdnet.com Sun Microsystems Inc. next week will make the biggest Java partner announcement in the history of the company, CEO Scott McNealy said Tuesday. McNealy, speaking at the launch of the company's Darwin Ultra workstations, steadfastly refused to name the partner. Instead,he used the podium to tout forthcoming, more-affordable Solaris applications and new modes of delivery for the Ultra 5 and Ultra 10 machines. --- With Java and the set-top boxes I think this is a super home consumer product that will kick Windows OS right out the door, of course it's still under development. The only problem is that MS might wake up and realize this. Windows or OS2 or Linux is not a real consumer product because of it complexity and only survives in the home consumer market because there isn't any competition like the NC and set-top box which will make the computer user friendly the way it should be. And like Addi says you need powerful, scalable, reliable servers to feed the new hungry devices which Sun can provide and MS NT can't. JMHO Mike
