Doug, I am not familiar enough with the inner working of the HK financial markets and their exposure to the other tigres. Pergrine's failure was due to a very unwise loan in Indonesia. I understand that HK banks have some $40 Billion or so (is this figure correct?) loans to the six weak Tigres. What would be the impact of additional defaults on HK? Furthermore, I would presume that Peregrine had its self borrowed in the HK market and waht is the size of the possible "reverberation" of having to write off (by other financial institutions) debt owed by Peregrine to them.
