Fuchi,

In case you haven't been paying attention, the MXi is going to be targeted at machines that may be too powerful to fall into the sub $500 category.. if based on performance alone...

All indications are that the MXi has the advantages of the top of the line cpus and then some. I still think 133Mhz main memory speed is definitely a possibility.. although it may preclude the use of some of the cheaper forms of ram.. that can be fixed by offering a lower speed model designed to run at 100mhz x a different multplier though..

Fuchi,

However, it might be a good idea to reserve the jumper of 133Mhz bus speed for workstations or servers. 128-bit data bus and 66Mhz PCI on the 133Mhz system speed would serve these two high end markets extremely well.

I was thinking about the same thing recently. Memory bandwidth is the major contributor to server performance. With availability of Gigabit Ethernet cards, the demand on memory bandwidth will increase.

BTW, 6x86 supports some multiprocessing (not compatible with Intel). In case MXi supports the multiprocessing as well, it would be an interesting idea for Cyrix to put together a "reference design" of a multiprocessing server. I would like to see it's performance in 1 Gig Ethernet environment.
