Context is important, though. He played footsie* with the Nazis and other hate groups throughout his campaign. And he has shown a lot of reluctance to criticize terrorism by non-brown folks.

*By footsie I mean he re-tweeted memes and posts by such groups and luminaries of those movements. When he wasn't retweeting stuff, he tweeted the same information but in mangled wording. Now it wasn't a huge percentage of his tweets, but it was very noticeable. Either he or someone who has influence over him was very familiar with those groups. I truly have no idea whether or not Trump and company are followers, but they were aware of them and courted them to be part of their coalition.

It very well may have been Manafort or someone else working with the Russians. The Russians have actively supported such groups in Europe with funding and other support. This is known and has been ever since Putin rose to power. I suspect the intent has been to sow dissent in Europe and, given their until recently fringe status, a low cost investment. I can see no real reason why they wouldn't do the same here. From what has been made public of their meddling in the 2016 election, this seems to be the case.

Right. You didn't hear what you just heard.

This was the point that video came here with; and it is what the TV news did with it. They played it, and promptly told people what they heard was not what they heard. And you, every one of you, just accepted what CNN and MSNBC -- and Chuck Todd and rest -- said, totally forgetting what you just heard.

This has been discussed extensively this week, and it is the reason I brought it to your attention. As a test, you might say. And what I was told was precisely correct. You see it, you hear it, and you totally discount it as though he never said it. And a week from now you will not remember it was shown to you.

The man stood there and said, "I'm not talking about white supremicists or neo Nazis". Then, you simply discard that statement and make it be what you want it to be.

And you don't even know you're doing it.

In most cases it is partisanship. You can call it what you like as it pertains to you.

>> You would think that anyone who cares enough about retaining a Confederate statue to come out and protest peacefully is a racist, hence not "fine people," perhaps not belligerent but still not what would be considered "fine people."

I am almost certain you said you lived in the South at one point.

Essentially everyone I know believes the statue removals are idiotic, that killing your own history lacks gumption, and those things are part of our history. There is no worshipping them as heroes, they are simply historical markers. And most are angry about it, yet not motivated to stop it.

But some few were motivated to come out and make their opinions known, and those on the left condemned it with false cause. Because it was an ENTIRELY REASONABLE thing to do and in no way symbolized or suggested violence or even rowdy behavior. No different from the "kind, peaceful" group on the other side.

From minute one it was pointed out to you that all these people were not in the same group.

Your miscalculation is that anyone protesting the removal of a long-established Civil War monument is a racist and improperly motivated. No. It is just stupid shit that people like Landrieu are willing to do for political gain. No different from what goes in DC on a daily basis.
