I'm pretty liberal, even by Canadian standards, but I'm a democratic socialist ... I believe in limits on both capitalism and socialism: people should be free to own property and make as much money as they want, but there should also be progressive taxation to redistribute a fair bit of the wealth in society. Sort of the Matthew 25:35 thing ...

Yes, socialism (actually communism) got itself a bad reputation in the last century thanks to Stalin and the USSR, and capitalism did have a good run ... but nothing lasts forever, and the unfettered capitalism we're seeing now is running amok and destroying the planet. Lots of deaths and poverty, both in the third world and in America itself, can be attributed to it, from toxic waste dumps to war as a racket.

So, getting back to those 90% who are more and more starting to go postal in one way or another, what are we going to do about them?
