The study that he is likely referring to is the one that shows that an average US voter's opinion has no impact on what bills get passed or not passed. So yes we can impact who gets elected (from a narrow choice), but that is worthless if we have no impact what is getting passed. In other words, if neither party is going to represent our interests then voting doesn't matter.

Many in the US have figured this out intuitively based on their own personal experiences and thus the large voter apathy. Now there is proof.

So low voter turnout is not the problem...it is just a symptom. Voting is an act of futility until the influence of special interests is reduced....

That's sort of right. But as school and other mass shootings show, even individuals can do a lot of damage. When slavers and other evil doers get in power it's ethical to fight back.
How long did it take to disassemble Waco Texas when they got serious ?
Yes, the military forces were easily able to mass kill the children, women and men of the Waco. But they had barely finished high-fiving when ATFand co got a truckload of diesel and fertilizer coming through the windows.

Tim McVeigh fought back.

The USA has already had 2 civil wars = the Lincoln one, and he lost by assassination which is another way people resist, and the civil war against King George which Team America won.

I prefer voting as a way of deciding outcomes. My point is that voting is not an ethical process. Have a look at South Africa and Zimbabwe. Venezuela.

Voting is statistically pointless. I doubt 1 vote has ever swung a general election. Hanging chads were close. Marginal seats have been decided by minuscule majorities. But 1 vote didn't decide.
Making it compulsory is laughable whichI think started the discussion.
