That's much more feedback than I really expected to get from my post. Thank you, Kirk. Your newsletter got me interested in the CD approach a few years ago. I just never applied your sensible formula. I'll be 83 in a few weeks. At that, and not being able to make many changes with my CD funds before early 2020, I think I'll begin planning on a 1/3:2/3 split between Vanguard and CDs. I will be able to comfortably live with that, believing I'll live long enough to see wisdom in this decision. Many thanks!
