I agree. He is stupid in the Gary Hart sense. Daring the media, with his avowals of domestic bliss, then... (Gary, if you'll recall urged the press to follow him.) Well, we'll see if there is a then. With Gary there certainly was.

I agree. His behavior has more than once been simply DUMB. And taht is disquieting in a head of state. His failing seems to be a need for sexual novelty and a fixation on airheads. Had he simply found a woman (dare we ask?, an intelligent woman) to have a discreet affair with, I'd have a great deal more respect for him. As it is, I have nothing but contempt for intelligent men who are attracted to bimbos.

penni... bottom line, PROVIDING our system finds him guilty, is stupid and arrogant. Look, what I find impossible to deal with here is the narrowing focus of behavior we're allowing ourselves. We're putting our minds into computer straight jackets, we're allowing corporations and government authorities to turn us into 12 hour a day work alcoholics who are satisfied with church every 7th day and a Ford Taurus. In a year you'll be given scan cards to do your shopping that trace your consumer habits and record your patterns of travel.. for the sake of consumerism and lack of guts, this country is leading the way into a less than noble future compared to what we could do. Sexual mores are one of the primary ways every historical socio-political organization has used to bend the will of people to do what it wants when it wants.. this is no different, except that its a President who's ruffling the status quo. There've been some good ideas here... One was to have a statute of limitations on this stuff, otherwise its blackmail for life for living. Wake up, sexual expression is not a crime between consenting adults. Judge him on his job in the Oval Office... geeeez, even that has conotations now.

Penni, when I was talking about sexual addiction in relation to Billy, it was in NO WAY to excuse his behavior. This simply is a recognized mental illness, and treatment is available. My point is that all adults in ordinary reality are responsible to get help for their problems if help is available and they are out of control in some part of their lives, so they don't hurt their families, friends, and in this case, perhaps all of us. Yes, he is incapable of self-control and good judgment, but that is because he has a compulsive behavior disorder. I think EVEN less of Billy because over a long number of years he created pain in his marriage and for many other women, snuck around, was constantly at the end being pursued and confronted with the reality of his misbehavior, and simply continued with it. He certainly had the money and the connections to find a very good therapist, and begin treatment. Here is a url on sexual addiction.
