I'm not a lawyer but I think you are wrong. If I tell you I'm going to rob a bank and you believe me, at that moment we are involved in a conspiracy to commit a crime which is a crime in and of itself, independent of whether I rob a bank.

It doesn't matter if Linda lied or did not lie in the deposition, the fact that she honestly (at least to Lindas understanding) said she was going to lie, is enough.

Hi Janice, howz it? re What if she DIDN'T have an affair with him and was just seeking attention?

Of course this is a possibility, but it doesn't seem plausible given the way the events have turned out:

1) If she was seeking attention, why say the things she said (secretly recorded on tape) in private conversations with a friend? Why not just go directly to the press with her allegations, ala Jennifer Flowers?

2) After the taped conversations, she swore in the affidavit she didn't have the affair. Did she decide to forget the "idea of getting attention"? Or perhaps she was no longer delusional?

3) Really, it sounds like the tapes of Lewinsky are quite detailed. For instance, she was angry that Clinton was having affairs with four other women, three of whom also worked at the White House. Is it plausible for someone to get distraught, fill in those kinds of extra details etc, if she were imagining the whole thing? I'm not a shrink, so I don't know.

4) How does she explain the way her statements conflict? She doesn't say anything yet. She is distraught. She says on the tape that "I've lied my entire life". Yes, and that's the trouble with lying or making things up; pretty soon the lies get all tied up in knots, conflicting with each other. Sure, it would be upsetting.

I believe that more evidence and statements from other people who saw or heard things will be forthcoming. I think this thing is going to unravel fast. People are going to start cracking, telling all. The first people will get the most attention, and then may come exclusive interviews, book deals, etc.

The lure of fast, easy money will bring people forward, IF Monica was telling the truth on the tape.
