OtherChap,

I agree with you. Just bought a rewritable CD-Rom. My Zip drive starting to take a backseat. I picked up a case of writable CD's at $2.00 a piece with 650 Megs of space each. Storage on CD's is much more cost effective for me.

The thing you are forgetting is the CD-R are burnable only ONCE. People buy zips because they need to store some stuff and then write over it when they're done with that info.

On CD-R's you have to get it right the first time, then the disk is as good as gone.

These are two completely different markets.

OtherChap,

>> CD-rewritable drives are coming down drastically in price, you can get a good internal one for 350 bucks without looking hard, and the media only costs 2 bucks for 650 megs of backup storage. If you buy the rewritable media, it's about 14. <<

Where can you buy a CD-RW for $14? The best price I got is $17.x. BTW, what brand is it?

I know the price of CD-RW will drop when DVD-RAM hit the market for 3 to 6mos since DVD-RAM disc is so cheap.

Thanks
