I bought my system at glav.com

I bought it when Echostar was running a $100 discount special. You can still get it for $299 from them (still the best price). I think most people are still out of stock, though.

Also, sorry about your Falcons. I feel for you. I have to live with the Detroit Lions.

Carter, it sounds like a lot of your problems were with the channel of distribution and not the product. If there is one thing that people need to be educated about, it is the importance of dealing with a reputable local company.

DISH Network themselves will tell you that most of their sales come from independent local dealers who offer both sales and installations. By dealing with a local party, you'll get the right answer for you to questions like the availability of local channels, etc. Secondly, you won't have the same trouble getting your installers out.

When you call 800-333-DISH, you get a call center, and the installers that come to your house (with the sole exception of Metro Denver) DO NOT work for DISH. They are SUBCONTRACTORS. While DISH does make some effort to screen these guys, they are not employees and their priorities may be different from DISH Network's. Many subcontractors install more than one type of small dish product.

Your best bet is to punch in your zip code at the DISH website and get the name of the nearest dealer near you, or call the Satellite Broadcasting and Communications Association (SBCA) at (703) 549-6990 for a referral of a local satellite retailer.

Hope things work out for you!

Regards,

NOEL
