My understanding of the math is if it was just social isolation, then the death curve would flatten which means you spread out the same number of people who get it and suffer over a longer period so the infrastructure can cure them. That means people will still dye.... What I observed today in China is they stopped it dead. NO new deaths. That seems to imply a nearly total cure. One way to get even with Trump tariffs and the rest of the Western World is delay spreading that news, let their economies tank, cash in their US bonds at super low rates with huge appreciation and buy US and European stocks. That would make a good Hollywood thriller..... Fine with me as I've been adding and will profit if we recover quickly... and those who say we need Bernie's copycat European socialism model in the US just needs to look at how that wonderful system failed even worse than ours in the US... with just Italy exceeding China before you count all the other countries in the EU.... So....weird... but if there is no cure and we have an even stronger assault next year with no new vaccine for it... global depression. 2/3rds of the people quarantined from the cruise ship want to go home without being tested as they are symptom free and if they test positive... they'll be quarantined another 2 weeks and they would rather have that happen after they get home... not trusting the system...
