I suspect you will start to see more parallels as more research is done. Hypoxia is a silent killer, and causes a lot of disability (loss of ability to lead a normal life) among it's sufferers. I'm reading more and more about how it affects hemoglobin, and I think that's something researchers need to focus on. I agree there is more unknown than known at this point. That is one of the reasons it's scary. I too have read the reports of over-reporting. I will not argue that it's not happened. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people with agendas who have jumped all over this. I think you could make an equally pervasive argument for under reporting some segments of the population...bottom line, though, we are all just guessing as to whether either is significant enough to change the parameters most of the world is working under. Among the minority of people who are attempting to make political hay, benefit financially, and all the other disingenuous activities that have been reported, though...you have an army of health care providers who are just trying to save lives and find good effective treatments to tide us over until a vaccine is developed. Unfortunately the good intentions of many are over shadowed by the recklessness of a few. I wouldn't go so far as to say everything is sheer speculation. Slowly but surely the pieces of the puzzle are being put together. A lot of people have the false assumption that medicine is an absolute science. It's not, and never has been. People who get sick from this virus display vastly different symptoms, and respond very differently to treatment. Society is clamoring for a one size fits all panacea. I think we will have to wait for a vaccine to see that. I hope as we go forward we will see less infighting and more solidarity around what should be our biggest priority, and that is keeping our society safe, our economy strong, and working together to find a cure. I don't think those goals have to be mutually exclusive. I think it's possible to open the economy back up while individuals use common sense measures to protect themselves, according to their risk levels. I already know I'm high risk, so I'll take the proper precautions to protect myself. I'm thankful to others who take measures to curtail the spread, even though they don't have to. I will admit to not having a lot of patience, or respect, for people with this attitude (below), but we will always have people like this. Thankfully it's a minority view. Take care, Win...hopefully a year from now this is all over.
