Q4 Estimation Competition:

Let's cheer this thread up by having a competition to estimate CYMI's Q4 results. 4 estimations are needed. 1st the Q4 EPS. 2nd the # of lasers sold. 3rd the backlog. 4th the stock price at the end of the next day after the earning released. I'll go first.

EPS:::::::::::::::: $0.27
#lasers sold::::::: 137
Backlog # ::::::::: $130M
Stock Price:::::::: $18

Anyone willing to take on the competition? The result will be equally weighted for each of the 4 categories above. The winner will be the one with the result closest to the actual value.

Doc, I am not fighting on the $.24, I posted my estimate because Bob Gurza asked for it. My rationale was that they are overshooting a little the staffing rate, that they have training costs and marketing costs higher than last quarters and that this will be more than compensated with higher sales than last quarters. I figured about 15% Q/Q sales increase partially offset with these ramp up expenses. I may be wrong, I have been before.

The numbers to be announced on Thursday are known by many insiders by now. Lawyers, accountants, secretaries...they have friends. With low volume and no price movement, it is safe to say we will not see an earnings upside surprise.

I saw an article that stated that big money is staying with large cap stocks. During volatile market conditions, money is put in the most liquid stocks and stays away from small stocks.

This is why we haven't seen a rebound in Cymer or Jmar. I used to bash people here for having a "win-lose" attitude about the two stocks. Never thought about the possibility of a "lose-lose" --- sucks big time.

<< The shorts don't concern me as it is no secret that most
shorts lose money!>>

Exactly. Last month Dell and Microsoft were on the top
ten shorts list. IMHO you've got to be either a) very
nimble or b) very stupid to short those two.
