"Better to compare Clinton to Nixon. . ."

Read Will's article again. That is precisely what Will's article is doing. It is comparing Clinton and Nixon and the Republican and the Democrat responses to the two phenomena. Wilson doesn't really matter as long as you remember what Nixon did and paid the price for doing and what Clinton is doing and is trying to deny doing so that he doesn't have to pay the same price.

Moral: If you play the game you pay the price--one way or the other.

Janice, what do you think of all these right wing conspirancy claims by Hillary? Is this ironicly similar to Nixon's last days or what!

Conspiracies are everywhere Hillary!!

How sadly pathetic.

Michael

>>Huh? What's Wilson got to do with it? By the same token one could draw comparisons with FDR's or Reagan's last years; neither was fully capable of, um, discharging his responsibilities.

Will majored in history at Princeton and I believe he taught it there as well, he knows what he's talking about. It's clear FDR was incapacitated when Alger Hiss persuaded him to cede E Europe at Yalta - that mistake cost us $7 trillion. There is no evidence that Reagan was ever incapacitated while in office.

>>Better to compare Clinton to Nixon, who went to pieces in the last six months or so of his term in office. So far, though, Bill seems to be keeping it together a bit better.

Not so fast. Nixon's mental illness came at the end. Bill's apparently has been there all the duration.

>>And let's face it: Hillary is LOT smarter than Edith Wilson, who, with her friend Colonel Something (too lazy to go look it up) ran the late Wilson administration.

What's the evidence of that? They both got all their power through their husbands, but Hillary is a doormat. Edith seems to be the smarter one, she ruled without the controversy - Hillary is always in a fix.

>>Sure, George Will is biased, but this really goes too far.

Will is not partisan - he wanted Scoop Jackson for Pres in the 1970's and abhored Bush. Will is smart and educated and knows what he's talking about.
