Gary, It would definitely make them #1 in remote access business. I hope Cisco does not acquirement them. I would rather see Nortel or Lucent bring Ascend to the alter. Cheers, Steve

Cisco up nearly 20% in less than a week and ASND still in the 20's. Why? Addi, remember this idiotic comment: Well because in order to get to $50 it first needs to get to $40! when I asked why all the bulls here were talking about Ascend at 40 when it moved off 24 to 28. Hey, if Ascend can't rally here......that would concern me. So, what gives. When will Ascend break out or will it need to get bought as many of you are now talking about.

Her are a couple of reasons. 1. Stratacom is getting beat by cascade. They need to bury that mistake. 2. Ascend is still no 1 in ras/rac and Chambers predictions notwithstanding CSCO has a lot of work to bypass ASND in this area. I would be suprised if it happened due to antitrust concerns and Chambers ego.

Rumor had it that the place (Ascend, Alameda) was buzzing that Cisco was going to aquire them. That has to be one of the most ridiculous comments I've seen in a while. This was not a comment, but a restatement of information that was widely posted on the day that it occurred, and is stated as such. I merely pointed out that Chambers will not achieve the #1 position in RAS in 1998 according to his numbers without an aquisition of the #1 or #2 player. Whether or not this is likely to happen is debatable, but don't attack the messenger. Don't worry, I wouldn't confuse you with Mr. Korn, he is not a jerk. Larry

Gary, CSCO in my opinion is in the running to aquire asnd alon with LU, just think what a powerhouse csco would be. It's all about having the power and being the biggest just look at what msft has been doing. ASND would fit very will in CSCO's pocket without even making a dent. BTW- I think I used to get the most crap from the asnders but that was when I was more bearish but now that I see light at the end of the tunnel my tune is changing. But I need not worry by losing my throne it looks like you are going to be the most hated guy on this thread. Bring it on I love to see these heated battles!!!!! Regards tl
