I've been in the market for 60 years, ekimaa, and my views are somewhat different.

I've never been able to be certain. Sort of getting better at that. More certain I've become about a stock(company), more money I'm now willing to plunk down at one time and in total.

"The market can be wrong longer than I can be right." :) Yes. A big learning for me as well. Similarly, another learning for me is: "There is no such thing as a no-brainer" -- anything can go wrong to screw up what looks (even after researching) like obvious buy.

"The market can be wrong longer than I can be right."

I see ....

But then there's that observation from Warren Buffett and his partner Charlie, "IF THE MARKETS WERE EFFICIENT I'D BE A BUM ON THE STREET WITH A TIN CUP"

valens-research.com

I'd say that's probably why Buffett and Munger "GET GREEDY" when Others, i.e. the majority in "the market", "GET FEARFUL", because they can, more often than not, determine Quality Businesses based on their well honed investing Criteria, and buy their stock at "bargain" prices .....

That's also probably why the list of the Public Companies that Buffett and Munger own is FAR SHORTER than the Extensive Number of stocks that most other "Fund Managers" own.

< "The market can be wrong longer than I can be right." >

That’s interesting! I am of the opposite opinion! I’ve been thinking a lot about that Keynes quote – ”the market can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent”. That may be, if your shorting. Otherwise I would say ”I can remain rational longer than the market can remain irrational” – or: "I can be right longer than the market can be wrong." (Sounds a little cocky though, doesn't it...)

So I disagree completely; but then again, I am yet to put my words into practise for even 5,5 yrs...

Good fortune
