>>I think the President's ability to face his enemies has strengthened him in the polls.

But, in actuality, he hasn't faced anyone. He is stonewalling. And hoi polloi don't seem to care.

However, politically he is toast.

And that's good for the market.

There is a good reason it's falling apart. They have nothing verifyable on him. Tripp and Lewinsky can't make a ham and egg sandwich between them even with Starr coaching and promising them the moon when they are done!

Clinton is practising the "rope-a-dope" strategy here -- take a few hits even while evading the most serious ones, launch a few calculated jabs back at the opponents so that they get the message that he is still a force to be reckoned with, and keep at it just long enough to tire them out.

He will not go for the kill here but instead will keep the ball in play until his opponents crumble under the weight of their own contradictions, which is bound to happen sooner or later.

As far as this thread goes, things will drag for a while, and eventually we will be left with a few jokers desperately trying to get a part-time job at the local comedy club.

Dipy.

>>the case has flipped<< Yes, but I remember seeing the media flip on the 'Watergate' case against Nixon repeatedly. It is too early to bury this story, but I am not sure it has the same life of its own that Watergate had... In this case we all share your name. : )
