And maybe he did exactly that. Or at least brushed her off. I see you're just catching up here: we've been wondering whether little Monica may have been making the whole thing up. Certainly by now her credibility is badly, perhaps irreversibly, damaged.

One thing women understand is the kind of mischief unbalanced lovestruck 21-year-olds can get up to.

It's a trust, honorable men hold toward one another and their offspring.

And surely you know that this sort of paternalistic thinking tics me off. At 21, you're an adult, and responsible for your own actions. I repeat: if Lewinsky really did have an affair with Clinton--which by now I seriously doubt--she was not in any sense a victim.

I think you have gone to the crux of one aspect of this debate, that being that parents--particularly parents of daughters--are going to be far more critical of President Clinton and his alleged behavior than will the people who do not have children.
