Loki....hpeace can answer these questions better than I can.....I am recalling a recent statement by CPQ chief financial officer I read where he said Acquisition will be accretive by the end of this year....I'm assuming they've taken all the above questions into consideration before entering into this merger.....Their Tandem acquisition has given them acquisition experience.....Also DEC has been a company they have had a close working relationship for a couple years, or more, so that should help as well......I believe CPQ has been recognized by more than one source for having Outstanding management.....I think it's going to gell sooner than many people think.......George

Loki,

IMHO, the functional integration of DEC into CPQ will be a lot easier than the cultural one. Afterall, MA and TX aren't exactly soulmates, not to mention the geographical separation.

However, I think, given time it would all work out. The long-term invetors should have less to worry about than the options holders.

Regards,
Ibexx

loki, what you say is true, but cpq's management is pro at managing to achieve the goal.
My guess is the entire effected compnay is taking courses on the pschological steps in a takeover.
by learning that it's okay to have these feelings , you can then control them and go through the steps quicker and back to productivity.
it's a sure thing they don't experience lull period. bec. cpq will face the issue straight on by teaching courses in takeovers.
I'm positive. can you remember the 7 steps you go through????
since you are a Sr. Mgr. you understand most the stuff I talk about.
do you think it's best to run courses on the psychology of the takeover and face it head on?????

europe has to get moving.
y2k is on them. they will massively upgrade technology now since they have no choice. if they don't then europe shuts down on jan 1 2000.

it will be interesting to see how cpq sells off the parts of dec they don;t want.
who knows, they may end up with 8 billion in cash and they only had 6.8 billion before the takeover<ggg>
