Time will tell. But they'd have been awful fools to give her money. Arranging some job interviews (from which only one actual offer resulted) is something else again. Obviously by then she was bugging everyone about her "problem", and it's at least conceivable that the White House was as concerned about the trouble her inventions could cause (and if inventions they in fact were, it was a legitimate concern, as we've seen) as it might have been by any truthful "revelations". Dumb, yes, but a possibility.

As for the credit card charges, well, her parents appear to have money...
