Congrats on the new setup! Very slick..

Got a quick question:

You fund request page shows,

"In order to make a wire request online you must have already sent us a wire request in writing with a valid signature and complete bank instructions.",

does your online wire setup makes the signature part unnecessary? (I haven't completed the information online yet, so I don't know what happens after the form is submitted)

Also, regarding check writing ability- my account was activated last year yet when I followed the instructions (figured I need to put the password in..):

"Customers Who Have Applied Online For Accounts
BEFORE February 1

All customers who applied online for a new account before February 1 must sign an agreement form prior to activating check writing services. To receive an agreement form, click on "Activate Check Writing", and you will be sent an agreement form by postal mail. "
,

I received the message saying "checking writing is only available to individual and joint accounts now" (grammar?). My individual account is currently margin-enabled, is that a problem?

Finally, the prices for the stocks in my portfolio doesn't seem to reflect the price last traded (in fact, my account value is different compared to another server, like order2)- does that mean you're getting after-hours trade quotes or simply a glitch?

Keep up the good work.

I noticed that our account id's are passed along with the stock symbol when we access research via the research key on the quotes and trades page (eg. thomsoninvest.net, is that necessary? (it works just as well with a made-up id like XID1234)

Peter,

I got this error On Thompson page when asking Thompson report from my profolio:

SQL error: prepare_err [ORA-01401: inserted value too large for column ]

I wish you had added a trading link on the profolio page.

Thanks.

Bravo!!! After a few minutes on the new site I can say it has improved in every aspect. You must have some great programers there. Thank you for responding to so many suggestions and putting up with our impatience. I hope there are not many bumps when trading starts. There are so many new features. When the word gets out you may be swamped even with the new capacity.

Peter,

Nice work on the site and thanks for the enhancements.

My only outstanding questions are,

1) Do you plan on offering All or none orders.

and

2) allowing OTC-BB stocks to be traded.

Thanks,,,,,

SJ

Anyone, re: checking permission form ...

Seems like every other form is printable from the browser, why not checking? I'm assuming the reason is simple basic and as apparant as the nose on my face --- but I can't think of it! Someone please seize this opportunity to improve my grasp of the obvious. Perhaps somebody @datek just hasn't gotten to it yet.

Glad to see ongoing improvements, REALLY looking forward to Level II quotes. Cheers!

Peter,

I've noticed you now have a "log out" button. I was curious what are the differences of logging out vs just closing the browser.

Thanks
Dan

Very nicely done Peter! Keep up the good work. I like the fact that I can use either the old or the new.

More fluffy, bloat-adding suggestions for the "new" format:

1. How about the ability to save (and load) named quote lists a la Yahoo portfolios? That would be nice when you get bounced to a different machine and you're too lazy to type in all the symbols again.

2. The ability to edit those same quote lists a la Yahoo portfolios. Maybe set a high/low price that triggers "something", even if it just changes the color of the symbol. Nice for us graphically-oriented people to scan the symbols to see if something has gone over/under target price.

3. The ability to quickly pull up a quote list on the stocks in your portfolio. Great for watching the value of your portfolio dribble away during corrections.

4. The ability to quickly liquidate a position in your portfolio at market with the click of a button. Great for covering shorts at a bottom.

Look, Datek Online will do options. We have to. People want to trade options. And when we do
it will be done the right way. Fast. Simple.
Inexpensive.

OK, when?

Shouldn't NYSE/AMEX stop orders get rejected? Well, they aren't.

Annoying question about mutual fund trading:

1) I know that you won't go live before things are good n' darn ready, but is there an "anticipated live date" for fund trading? I'm not asking for promises, just something on the order of a WAG.

2) Not really a question, but add some index funds, please!

Mutual Fund trading: Some "anomalies" encountered.

I was, ahem, "playing" with the mutual fund trading to see how functional it really is. It looked like today was going to be a boring trading day, and I didn't have anything better to do with my time. There are a few kinks left in the hose. Here's what I've found so far:

1) Cancelling a mutual fund trade takes 4-freaking-ever. I placed an order after market close yesterday afternoon just to "see what would happen". I had suspicions that cancelling a MF order would be an ordeal. I tried to cancel it sometime after 8:30 or so this morning. The order is still sitting there in limbo-land. Somebody at Datek needs to finish that coffee and danish and press the button, flip the switch or whatever in a more timely manner. My suspicions were confirmed.

2) AFTER trying to cancel the aforesaid MF order, the "open orders" status shows nothing under the "Status" column for the MF order. The "Cancel" checkbox is still hanging around.

3) The confirmation screen for the cancel DOES show that the MF order is "Trying to cancel". This is the only place that I can find where the MF order status shows.

I still like the fluffy, java-filled, god-awful-colored, graphic-overloaded "enhanced" site. Then again, I'm frequently told that I have no taste whatsoever. Some people were just destined to wear polyester. I'm also *very* color-blind.
