My 10 year old BMW X3 has a HD for storing music on CDs I could rip to store in the car. I have no idea if it is SS or platter but my guess is new cars now are all solid state for top reliability. I wonder if the controller for these SSDs in cars is the bottleneck causing the auto industry to take capacity offline..... I'd think an automaker that has to pay a huge cost for idle factories could afford to get to the front of any list where price is negotiable.
This is one reason I would like SIMO to divest Ferri and Shannon.

I'm no expert on this as all I know is what I remember you writing about but it could be small volume but "rich" or "less price restricted" customers like auto makers figure it is worth a large premium to have a "bundled solution" that they mate with their automotive computers. That is small fry might pay more just to have a bundled solution they don't have to worry about.
