I taught high school. Mechanics, drafting, art and had a stint of math. Senior mechanics papers and tests? No way could a 2021 student pass the same test from 1980, same with a 2500 word essay. The same thing has been observed in university engineering courses.

I just watched the Flynn video again, and the only place he says that we are not getting smarter is in politics as we don't study as much history. But even there, he says we are not doing so well in politics because we are not studying history, not because we are not smarter. If you have not watched please do so. It is really good and clear. PS he made that video eight years ago, and the kids today are smarter, as they voted less for Trump than any other age group. Flynn also talks about how our morality escalated in the 1900's just as I keep saying, because we now know how to entertain the hypothetical. Something our grand parents could not do well. Or Republicans :)>.
