Your link is behind a paywall for most people. Here is the way around it:

Opinion | Chile President-Elect Gabriel Boric Faces Challenge on Constitution - The New York Times (archive.fo)

I have a bit of an interest in Chile via a company I am involved with. Consensus within the company … Boric is the right guy at the right time. He is center left. More center than left. He knows very well that he can’t achieve “social equality” without the support of the center right.

No chance in my opinion that Chile with follow Venezuela under Boric.

People like this trying to whip up fear around the results of the Chilean elections are misleading people. The new President, as happens so often in that part of the world, ran left to get elected and then will govern towards the middle.

We have seen this again and again in Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Brazil, and other Latin American countries. A lefty wins the election, causing all sorts of fear-mongering by ill-informed gringo commentators, and then governs towards the middle, once again making the gringos look like idiots.
