Janice, I think it's time to admit that SH has been blatantly been used purely as a lever to advance the agenda of the National Organization for Women. And the media has been a willing participant in this charade. The agenda being:

1) To make sure only Judges who would uphold Roe vs. Wade be nominated to the Supreme Court.

2) To take out Congressmen who have an "R" in front of their name.
The NOW gang's conspicuous lack of support for Jones, while they very loudly orchestrated the very personal attacks on Clarence Thomas and Senator Bob Packwood makes their charade as transparent as everyone with half a brain knew it was all along.

I suggest that the NOW gang and any other Democrat has never cared a whit about the issue of sexual harassment, except where it could be used to advance the liberal agenda.

When you say >I believe that women should be free from genuine sexual harassment in the office and in other areas of their lives.<

Kathleen Willey's husband had died the day that she sought an audience with President Clinton, to request help in finding employment. Would you not define it as sexual harassment for Clinton to then proceed in that meeting to grope her body and kiss her? What position was Ms. Willey in to resist? Her husband had just died and she was unemployed, seeking help from the most powerful man on earth.

re >And remember: the only woman who has ever actually accused Clinton of harassment is Jones.<

According to what I read, Ms. Willey has, in a deposition to the Paula Jones legal team, said Pres. Clinton's advances were unsolicited. The fact that Clinton, particularly when he's President of the US would impose himself on a woman the day her husband died is despicable, IMO, and certainly does qualify as SH. But, I doubt we'll ever hear anything from the NOW gang on it, because Clinton is their golden boy.

DK

<<And why should the women you describe be "humiliated" if he makes a pass at 'em? Not their problem. We've all had guys we're not interested in suggest "gratuituous" sex (what would the opposite of this be, anyhow?). Big deal. You say no and leave.>>

Jones claims that she was punished for doing just that. And, the opposite would be "for pay", yes?

>> But by now the law has gone way too far: as you say, SH is whatever a woman thinks it is. This is rubbish.

I think on this we agree. Take note however it's not men who came up with these standards, its women.

And too, it's not the fact that he makes the passes. You can't blame a guy for trying ( although I think it's pretty sad if a guy is married and willing to break a trust - but that's another topic, ) It's the way he makes the pass, alledegedly per Paula J and Ms Willy. I don't think people in positions of power should be allowed that kind of conduct. Surly yuo agree with that.

As for trend? Billy has more people telling about his antics from way back in Ark to lend credibility to this. There are a lot of women that tolerate rape from far less powerful men. Is it then suprising that women would not bring a charge against a Gov in a state like Ark or the pres ?

Sorry for getting back to you so late, and for leaving the errors in this post , but I am under the gun so to speak.
