"By then Adaptec will have repurchased most if not all of the 10 million shares it intends to buy in order to fulfill "employee" stock incentive plans."

Even at today's price, 10 mil shares worth 220 mil $. How could a company with 600 mil cash position afford to spend 220 mil in stock buy back?

schmedley,

you commented that:

<Adaptec will have repurchased most if not all of the 10 million shares it intends to buy in order to fulfill "employee" stock incentive plans>

so your saying that those shares arent being retired(subtracted from outstanding)?? because isnt that the whole reason to even do a buyback: + or ~ earnings/- shares out= + eps.
