Corning, Shin-Etsu, and Heraeus are the major glass makers. Yes, I believe you are correct about SVGL. Here are some old posts on the subject.

Re: PE is an optics house in their own right

Perkin-Elmer sold off their "optics" division to Hughes several years back and they now do business as Danbury-Hughes. I would characterize P-E as more of a manufacturer of analytical chemistry and biotech instrumentation.

Don't know if SVGI gets some of its optical parts from Danbury.
