I have a similar family situation. Different relationship and close to me - even more difficult to keep quiet.

I try to tell myself that I am glad that she is in on the gravy train.

Not only her, but another close family member is on the gravy train. So I get lots of practice of just listening and keeping my lip zipped. :)

Teachers know the compensation for the career they chose, before going to college.
Expecting 12 mos. pay for 8 mos. work is untenable, although the union wants their $.
Get a summer job, just like they had in college.
