I don't know why you hang on to this red herring of permits and leases.

I DID say regulations were holding up new production which was from an interview with an industry CEO on TV. He said if they got the approvals to move forward on their land with leases and permits, then it would take about 9 months to start delivering product, assuming they can get the workers, pipe, etc... He said the problem is it now takes 3 to 5 years to get through all the reviews (regulations) to start drilling.

Stop with the red herrings. A third item Biden could do to quickly increase domestic oil and natural gas production and lower costs is to do what Trump did and eliminate these regulatory hurdles. I'm not saying this is the "right" thing to do, just it is something he owns, not Trump or the industry.

And if you want to discuss permits... increasing the number doesn't help if you suspend all the new ones!

Biden suspends oil and gas leasing in slew of executive actions on climate change

PUBLISHED WED, JAN 27 20211:56 PM EST

President Joe Biden on Wednesday signed a series of executive orders that prioritize climate change across all levels of government and put the U.S. on track to curb planet-warming carbon emissions.
Biden’s orders direct the secretary of the Interior Department to halt new oil and natural gas leases on public lands and waters, and begin a thorough review of existing permits for fossil fuel development.
The series of actions kick off the president’s agenda to reduce the country’s emissions and establish stricter targets under the Paris climate accord.
