Yes, there was a civil war, supported by Russia, but that is different from what Russia just did. You seemed to conflate the two. Russia had no right to invade Ukraine. Agree? And he is destroying not just Ukraine, but also Russia. Russia will be devastated for decades. And then you say this which doesn't even make sense to me: "Free speech? "There are a lot of problems with free speech on a global scale in recent years. Nothing to do with Putin or Russia far as I can tell." koan:" Putin has completely squashed free speech by saying he would put people in jail for 15 years simply for using the word "war"! And so the entire free press that can leave have left to protect their employees.. How is that not a problem? How is that not Putin's problem? And last i heard he has ordered their books to remove the word Ukraine furthering his idea that Ukraine is really a part of Russia. But mostly he is a war criminal. His general is called "the Butcher of Syria" for laying waste to the civilian population and now Putin wants him to do the same thing to Ukraine. If you don't support Putin say so and quit making excuses for him. And the same goes for Trump. Be clear about your positions. If you are not clear people will not believe you. <,Hi Koan, Of course Putin had no right to invade. That is not an argument I have sought to make. There was a civil war, I don't know what else it could be called, and that has now resulted in a full scale invasion, a war, by Russia. The events and the Minsk Agreement back in 2014 were and are pertinent. The Trump Presidency Message Board - Msg: 33813402 (siliconinvestor.com) Free speech? There are a lot of problems with free speech on a global scale in recent years. Nothing to do with Putin or Russia far as I can tell. I used to visit Londons Hyde Park Corner many years ago, on Sundays. Then there was free speech. Not now. Things have deteriorated badly over the last few years, but that is a whole new subject. A very big subject by itself. Speakers' Corner - Hyde Park - The Royal Parks I don't appreciate being equated to an apologist for Russia's invasion of Ukraine. I have been there, in Kiev, and have relatives there. Still there. Sure, if I said some of the things here, there, it's probable I would have been shot dead by now, and I understand why. When there is a curfew, during any hours, if you are out in the streets, you are likely to be shot dead as a traitor / Russian infiltrator. That is the rule there in many places. It's a military situation. It's only outside of that environment can a peaceful solution be openly discussed. Painting me as a Putin man isn't going to wash as far as I am concerned.
