I agree there is plenty of blame to be laid at the feet of the police.

But what's being ignored is that the building entrance door WAS apparently locked.

A "curious" teacher decided to venture outside to see what was going on and propped the door open so she could get back inside. If I understand correctly, the shooter whacked her and then went in through that open door, and then into the classroom, whereupon he locked himself inside.

IF that teacher had done her job of securing the classrooms and building, it's very likely none of those students would have died as the shooter would have been trapped outside, surrounded by police.

I agree with you. There is a similarity between this tragedy and the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting where the only armed officer stayed outside and did not enter the school to confront the shooter and save lives.

Those who screwed up should be held accountable, especially those in charge!

Believe it or not, the thought that entered my mind, after I felt the shock of this senseless, horrific slaughter of children, was thinking about the calls to defund the police and the violence against, and disparaging of our law enforcement by leaders like the useless, slug Stacey Abrams who backs defund the police.

When the police are constantly belittled, can this have an effect on the performance of their duties? No excuse, but I wonder?

I am very afraid you have it right. The Fed did the right thing though.

Trump had it almost right. The teachers, who are not too screwed up in the head, should be armed and trained to counteattack any armed intruder that threatens to harm any student or groups of students on campus. Obviously, they would need to have a concealed carry type license, a silent alarting system would be useful too.
