Excellent Bob ! Lol. We live in an oil/carbon based economy and the climate cannot be controlled by subsidizing inconsistent power technologies.

Amazing how we were blessed with all of the above and under $2/gallon fuel less than 2 years ago. Policy clearly makes a difference.

If cheaper now, does that suggest the rebates and subsidies can now be waived?

The question can be understood when you wonder why were there rebates and subsidies at all ? If it's a great idea wouldn't it just win in the marketplace on it's own ?

The answer is that rebates were necessary to overcome the "moats" that large complexes of companies, we used to call them gorillas, put around their products. There are barriers for the EV market to realize their efficiencies. The biggest barrier is that it is danged difficult to make a new car company, take DeLorean as an example. Does anyone really believe he was some kind of drug dealer when he was run out of business ? The difference this time is that Musk had billions of PayPal dollars instead of bank loans.

So, your question is whether rebates are needed now. My guess is not for Tesla, but rebates would speed up the adoption of EVs and that is a benefit. Rebates are probably still needed by Rivian which does run on debt. Competition to Tesla would be good for the market and innovation.

GM actually pioneered the modern electric car, the EVI. It appeared to be successful, but was killed by GM because it threatened their main business. Tesla got it's start from the layed off staff of the EVI division. I fear that Ford would repeat that mistake without a robust EV market. There are a lot of forces that want to stop Tesla, it wouldn't take much to charge Musk with a drug violation of some type in Texas. There are also attempts to sue the software into oblivion. I think government support, whether that be rebates or common sense is still needed.

Did you hear the moron from "the current administration" on CNBC today say a way to lower inflation is to raise taxes?

I watched some of the January 6th committee theater last night. What a waste of time.

It seemed well timed to match today's inflation news.

Here is the latest article and I added a "Biden Barometer" chart showing what NG and Oil have done on his watch...

Welcome Back Carter - 8.6% Inflation is the Highest since 1981

Two questions (after you read my article)
  1. Do you think SPX see a lower low?

  2. Whatever happened to your CLX confidence of a huge up Monday (6/6/22) and a new rally?
