David:

Please don't get me wrong. Right now pressure groups and rule by political mob are running rampant in Washington, a force that has been steadily building for the past 100 years. I think the Internet is the 21st Century's road to freedom -- a liberty last dreamed of by the signers of the Declaration of Independence before the Revolution was betrayed by Hamilton and the Federalists with the federal Constitution.

The Great Experiment was holding the rights of the individual supreme, the State was subordinated in that political structure. Remember, the documents of the Revolution spelled out the limits of power the government could exercise -- NOT the definitions of power inherent in the State, but the INDIVIDUAL!

Today's society in America sees a large part of the population an acceptance-mode. Many will accept almost anything if it improves -- or at least doesn't threaten -- their comfort sphere. Part of this is malaise is reflected by the fact that less than half of the eligible voters now exercise their right to vote.

Political pull, domestic and International lobbies, PACs, etc. all exacerbate a democracy by creating groups with political agendas pitted against other groups fighting for political patronage, favors, and even new "rights" which are granted at the expense of true individual rights.
