David:

Obviously your guy is unaware of the latest happenings. If you have access to Networkworld (dt Feb 9), checkout pg 37, especially remarks made by Joe Kennedy, VP and GM of Bay's switching products division.

David, you asked for my opinion: I am just posting whatever I find of value to the thread. How the heck would any of us know the truth? Your source was probably better than most.

I really am becoming concerned that Fore is too bull-headed to partner with others (Bay) or be taken over by others (Lucent). They HAVE to realize that to compete and survive, they must leverage their technical edge NOW.

Soon, everyone will do ATM well, and Fore will be a dying also-ran, like Hayes modems, or Wang word processors, or Commodore computers, or Apple, or Silicon Graphics, or Cray, or .....!
