If I was a listener to Brinker's show on KGO and I didn't like the way that they were presenting the program, I would surely complain. That's my right and I would not hesitate to exercise it. If the show has become of little value as a result of too many commercials, then there's not much to lose if they yank it from the air. If in fact Brinker has thousands of "loyal" listeners in northern California, then maybe they would put up such a sink that KGO would bring it back.

I don't quite understand Mr. Lane's strong interest in this matter as I doubt that he lives in northern California. Anyway I am sure that Mr. Lane has the capability to listen over the internet.

Of course I am sure that Brinker would not like to lose one of his best stations. So If Brinker reads this thread, as Lane always hints, then maybe Brinker should talk to KGO about the situation. Doesn't he owe at least that much to his many loyal listeners in northern California.

Don :

The "chopping up" problem doesn't end with the monologue. It is there throughout the 3-hour program! If it were just the monologue, then our problem would have been a lot simpler. There are quite a few people here (Truman Bradley being the most prominent) who can do a very good job of summarizing the monologue for the benefit of those who couldn't listen to it.

Dipy.

To Bob Brinker, SR.

Don't even think about dropping the monologue. As far as I am concerned it is the best part of the program. I, frankly, get bored hearing the same questions again and again about each and every personal situation. If these people aren't smart enough to apply the general principles presented on the show, they shouldn't be managing their own money. Just MHO.

regards

Ken

Why should he bother doing any "monologue" on the radio?

Easy to answer.

I can read Barrons or search the internet to compare fund X with VTSMX.

I can not read Barrons or search the internet to get The Brink's insight on market valuations, direction, Intel-thoughts-of-the-day-as-a-trading-stock, effect of this or that piece of news on the market, etc. etc. which I enjoy.

re KGO issue. I gave up baseball cold turkey without trouble when Major League Baseball decided that fans were not important. I can do the same with KGO if the need arrises. Hopefully, someone will suggest a "win-win" situation where Moneytalk fans can let KGO know how much they enjoy the show but find all the breaks in continuity a problem.

best regards

RE: "If The Brink reads this thread and is as smart as he should be
he will discontinue this "opening monologue" stuff ..."

Bob's opening monologues (and his shorter monologues at the beginning of each hour and end of the show) are very valuable to serious and experienced investors. In my view, the monologues are the highlights of the show. I frequently record the show for listening on a delayed basis throughout the week. However, I make it a point to listen to the opening monologue in real time.

Best wishes,

I2
