In general, everyone should shop near the sweet spot of cost/value curve. A Mercedes, for example, is not that proportionately better than a Toyota relative to its cost increase.

However, when it comes to education (and programmers, teachers, and any other human centric activity), I have found that you should pay the extra price to get the best that you can. A $120k school is twice as good as $80k school.
