Mike and All,

Actually, several years ago, a woman here in San Francisco sued the legal firm she'd worked for, partly on the grounds of a similar poking offense. She won her case for six million! Maybe the jury awarded her more because of the SF Bay Area cost-of-living thing.

Michael, I heard today that a woman won her suit with UPS for 81 million dollars. She claimed she was poked in the breast and the company retaliated because she reported it.

This seems to me highly unlikely. The biggest suit I've ever heard was for something like 8 million, against a Boston law firm: the jury for some reason considered it reasonable that she get 10% of their annual revs. In any case, these things are always appealed, and the sum in question is normally reduced. By quite a lot (I know someone who's been in court over a harassment suit for about four years now).

Gotta say. I've thought about collusion... Whatta deal! Collect your ten mil, harasser and harassee, flee to Brazil...
