Otimer,

How does everyone here feel about the mkts? Are we still in a bull trend with further to
go to the upside?

So, the people who sell stocks want us to buy them. No surprise. As far as the bull market is concerned, my God, yes, we are still in it. Why and for how long? Beats the hell out of me.

I guess one of the characteristics of a bull market is its ability to shrug off anything. "Nuclear missles have been launched? Stock market gains 200 points in next hour. Brokers' phones are swamped with orders for defense stocks and 100 year bonds at 50 basis points over treasurys."

Philosophical question: Where does a bull market stop and a mania begin? I suspect the question is answered only in retrospective analyses.

Jack

Otimer: My take is that the market has entered the final blowoff stage. Stocks will continue surging until shortly after the US attacks Iraq. Those on Wall Street pulling Bill Clinton's strings are not going to allow the markets to head south when Bill fulfills their dream by again bombing Iraq.

I look for the market to peak my mid-March, probably in the Dow 9000 area. But small caps -- now coming to life again -- have much more upward potential from here than the big caps. Russell 2000 still 3.5% below its high, and could well jump 10-15% in the next few weeks if the overall market remains strong.
