A woman fellating a donkey, Surething? How could that man be sure his son wasn't just looking at a picture of Monica and Billy? Seriously, though, one of the many things I do not like about Hillary is that she becomes an antagonistic to any force which opposes her. Didn't she used to believe in freedom of speech? Maybe not, now that I think of it. The news will, of course, move much more quickly as the web is used, and I think that is a very good thing. I do think it puts more pressure on news organizations to publish fast, and a couple of them were recently caught with less than totally accurate reports, both of them about, um, liquids left on stuff, but hopefully there is a really fast learning curve. I also think freedom of information will really help societies like China become less restrictive. It is going to be hard for their government to really curtail electronic freedom, although they are trying. Personally, I think the mixture of groups on the net simply reflects life as we know it, with all the weird individuals and groups of all persuasions who can figure out how to use it. There are plenty of radical liberal free thinkers, smutty characters and anarchists right here at SI, and I find the mixture really stimulating, intellectually speaking. I do think that pornographic sites could easily make access for the underaged much more difficult, and I have read several proposed ideas for doing that. Adults should be able to decide what they want to see, short of snuff films and sites where crimes like child molesting have obviously been committed in order to bring the pornography to the net. Although I wouldn't think of spending my Saturday nights at bestiality web sites, I know for sure that my old boss did, although he was much the worse for wear, now that I think about it. A combination of more difficult access, parental vigilance and Net Nanny-type programs would make the internet a safer place for children, definitely, without curtailing adult access. Hillary is just concerned about more of the truth coming out, not that you cannot find plenty of strange conspiracies and lies on the net. Everyone should be able to evaluate the quality of the information they receive. What is this garbage about Monica and her mother being "tortured", anyway, that Hillary and Ginsburg are spinning about? All the serious news I have heard, like on PBS, has plenty of legal scholars defending Starr's tactics as normal prosecutorial procedures. On the tapes I read a transcript of in Newsweek, Monica's mother is conspiring with her to help Tripp avoid testifying, by injuring herself as I recall. Certainly it is appropriate that her mother testify before the grand jury. It is really too bad the White House spin is working so well. I live in very liberal San Francisco, and our newspaper is liberal as well, and yet there have been two editorials this week which were very much in favor of the truth coming out, and criticizing Clinton's tactics. Sorry to get so serious on you, Surething. That Hillary woman makes my blood boil!!
