The achievements embodied in the Internet protocols are substantial yet I do not view the original browser as anything more than a simple application program not much more complex than a simple text editor. The underlying standards represent the bulk of the work which was not developed by Andreessen but from that simple application layered on top of some real technology we got Netscape. The point is what Datarace has to offer is several orders of magnitude more complex than the seed technology of Netscape and equally as important as the browser in enabling personal communications over the Internet. The analysts on Wall Street Week were all calling for a slam-dunk 7000 on the DOW and despite the emphasis on xmas retail goods, what do you suppose the main topic of interest was? That's right, remote retailing via the Internet. With the dynamic, intelligent allocation of bandwidth from a 56K pool over plain old copper wires or using ATM, we will have the next big thing in the history of computing devices. No doubt there are plans to use this with Microsoft's CE operating system for personal communications devices. The Datarace technology is "pipe" independent and that scalability will make it the mechanism of choice for connectivity solutions.
